Wednesday April 28, 2021 - Fourth week of Paschal Time - I am the light of the world, says the Lord. Whoever follows me will have the light of life - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12, 44-50

“I who am the light,” says Jesus, “I have come into the world so that whoever believes in me may not dwell in darkness.” Jesus came to reveal his word and his work. So, whoever have faith in His word and in his works believes in him who sent him into this world.

He clearly says that He is the light. So, in the face of all kinds of evil, sin, fear, doubt, mistrust, it is He who will lead us, who illuminates our steps. He shows us his merciful heart so that we may live in communion with God with deep faith. This is the work that the Father has entrusted to him and recommended to him. He came to reveal to us that the Father is holy, righteous, and merciful. So he did not come to judge the world but to save it.

In addition, when he speaks of judgment here, his word is clear: "He who rejects me and does not accept my words will have, to judge him, the word that I have spoken: it is she who will judge him at the last. day." That is, it is unbelief in the word of God that will judge us at the end of our life. For the spoken word is the word of the Father, he does not speak for himself or of himself. So, we must renew our trust in Christ who is our light and illuminates our life and ask for his grace so that we can proclaim and bear witness to his word where we are.
