Monday March 29, 2021 - Holy Monday - Hail, O Christ, our King: you alone have taken pity on our errors - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12, 1-11

Christians! Easter is approaching, we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the foundation of our faith. Jesus is about to go to Jerusalem, where he will accomplish our salvation. According to the Gospel we have heard, Jesus returned to Bethany to Mary, Martha and Lazarus, whom He raised from the dead. It has been said that many people also came, not only because of Jesus, whose teachings and miracles had fascinated, attracted and increased faith, but also to see and prove how Lazarus was, the risen from the dead; is he still alive. The resurrection carried out by Jesus is neither magic, nor an invocation of spirit and phantom, temporary and deceptive phenomena, but those who trust and believe in him live forever; so let's not doubt that.

Second, Mary's expression of love for Jesus in her behavior and veneration for Jesus is a model for us. Not only did Mary show this attitude during this last visit, but every time Jesus came, she always showed herself ready to receive him the Living Word, Messenger of God, so that Jesus told her that she had chosen the best part. Love leads us to humility, let us look at Mary, she washed the feet of the Lord with her hair; love also leads us to give and to share as Mary did.

Third, let's not be selfish and greedy like Judas is, who took offense at the oil with which Mary anointed Jesus' feet. His apparent concern for the poor is hypocrisy and greed. Many of us think and still act like this, it is a disease that gnaws at us: even for the little that we deign to leave to the poor, we still dare to divert it. We are so selfish, so this Holy Week let us ask God to uproot from our hearts the power of evil that is the source of all our sins.

O Jesus our Lord! Eliminate from our hearts the selfishness and greed that leads us to perdition. Help us to truly love, and to be always in union with you, to seek the eternal riches in you! Amen!

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
