Sunday March 28, 2021 - For us, Christ became obedient, until death, and the death of the cross. This is why God exalted him: he endowed him with the Name which is above all names - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 15, 1-39
Dear Christians! The Word of God that we have just heard is quite long, but it calls us to focus on this holy week that we are entering on this day. According to the account of the passion of Jesus Christ, different groups of people take part in it, all responsible in one way or another for his suffering and death, and these groups seem to represent who we are and who we are. faith in God and in Jesus. We will focus this week keeping in our hearts, like Mary, the Word of God through the sufferings of Jesus, which is the source of our salvation. We will draw three lessons from this.
Pilate, who desperately sought the truth about why Jesus was condemned, did not dare to stand up for the truth. He feels that Jesus is not guilty, that he is wrongly accused out of jealousy, but he did not defend the truth, but defended the privilege and the honor. How many times have we, out of selfishness, greed and greed for glory, sacrifice the truth? It even happens that people are suppressed so that the inconvenient truth is not revealed. We generally cannot stand the truth, so anyone who tries to stand up for it is doomed.
Second, the crowd gathered by the Pharisees and priests insists on crucifying Jesus. Many accusations are brought against him, even fabricated, out of jealousy and hatred. In life, let us be careful before slandering or condemning someone, let us avoid the pitfalls of profit. On the other hand, let love reign, for lack of love and jealousy often go hand in hand with tragedy.
Third, Jesus was laughed at when he was crucified. Hounding down on someone down is commonplace these days. It is considered that those who are injured, those who remain silent, are guilty. The Pope often asks us to always help each other and to support each other in the truth and not to conspire with evil to condemn the innocent.
This Holy Week is an important and the best time to reflect on ourselves and our faith. Is our faith in Jesus ingrained in our hearts and are we ready to endure trials with him, even at the cost of our lives?
Oh God ! May our faith not only be one day's faith or great days like Easter, but a deep faith, unwavering over the years, lasting and always trusting in your love! Amen!
