Thursday March 18, 2021 - Fourth week of Lent - God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that those who believe in him may have everlasting life - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 5, 31-47

Jesus demonstrates three reasons why some people do not want to admit that he is the Messiah, the Son of God. First of all, they lack confidence in God. The next is that they seek the approval of others. And the last one, they use the scriptures for their personal interests. Jesus never sought to be endorsed to justify that he really is the Son of God, the one he sent, the faith, of those who accepted his teachings and his works, is enough for him.

Moses and the prophets already predicted his coming, but it was the Jews who refused to believe in him, to the point where they condemned and killed him. This means that the Sacred Scripture, of which they are proud, has not been embodied in them; for those who believe in the Father must also believe in the Son.

This Gospel therefore prompts us who believe seriously that Jesus is truly the Son of God. Love for God must come before anything else, and it alone must be the glory in everything we do. His words greatly contribute to our spiritual growth and our faith in him.

So, in this period of Lent, we must leave vanity buried within us and turn to Jesus. The more you get to know him, the more you get to know him.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
