Wednesday March 17, 2021 - Fourth week of Lent - I am the resurrection and the life, says the Lord. Whoever believes in me will never die - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 5, 17-30

Today's gospel speaks of Jesus' response to Jews who persecute him. Indeed, for them, nothing and no one is equal to God, and not even his Son. When Jesus said: "I am the Son of God", at the time of his condemnation; the high priest tore his clothes and said, "He has blasphemed. We don't need witnesses anymore." Mt 26, 65.

Jesus clearly states that his power comes from God the Father, the one who reveals everything to him and sent him. He is similar to the Father, for the Son is also God, but the Father and the Son are different persons in the Holy Trinity. It was therefore the Son who preached the Father, for it was he who lived among men. So everything that is done to the Son is also done to the Father.

Jesus therefore invites us to listen to the word of the Father which he preaches, because it is the means that will lead us towards the Way, the Truth and the Life. Let us ask the Holy Spirit at every moment in order to understand his words. Christ never ceased to communicate with his Father, this is the very meaning of the verb to pray, and he always worked to accomplish the Father's will. And he wants us to follow in his footsteps, for the Father's will is that men be holy.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
