Monday February 15, 2021 - Sixth week of ordinary time - I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, says the Lord - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 8, 14-21

On the one hand there is the word of Jesus who said to his disciples: "He who is not with me is against me". On the other hand there is the saying: "the word is attractive while the action is attractive". Faced with the many graces that Jesus lavished, in particular miracles, the Pharisees asked for a sign from heaven. Isn't that jealousy? Who does not know that Jesus fulfilled them with the full authority of God in Him? In fact, Jesus himself declared: "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth."

Today, this message of the Gospel reaches us, the Church. Let us beware of imitating the Pharisees who, although knowing, pretend not to know and are intractable. Let’s avoid skepticism, but let our faith take deep root. The miracles of Jesus are not subject to discussion, where there is reason to ask for signs, because they are all expressions of the love of God who knows what is best for us and, moreover, the thoughts of God are not ours.

Jesus, many of our ideas are different from yours, and this is what prompts us to make hasty and wrong judgments. Make faith grow in us so that we can live as Christians. Amen.
