Sunday, January 05, 2020 — Epiphany  — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 2, 1-12 — We saw his stars in the East, and have come to bow down before him.

God wants the whole world to be part of his family. After first revealing himself to the shepherds, the least of the world, the Messiah reveals himself today to the Magi, learned kings among the elite.

But unlike those foreigners who came in good faith to inquire about the "new king of the Jews", the high sphere of Jewish society at that time, the king, the high priests and the scribes, were overwhelmed. Jealous of their authority, greedy for power, they could not tolerate the presence of a "new king" other than themselves, or at least among their own people.
