Saturday January 16, 2021 - First week in Ordinary Time - The Lord sent me to bring the Good News to the poor, to announce their release to the captives - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 2, 13-17
Dear Christians! Jesus is on a mission, traveling through all regions and villages, in search of us to save us; He himself comes into our life. Often, we find him at the seaside: the reason is not that He walks, but generally there are a lot of people there, not only fishermen or fish merchants but also people who go at the beach just to get some fresh air. Jesus rubbed shoulders with these people to preach the Good News because most of these people never thought it could be done in such places. In addition there was the crowd, having seen his miracles and heard his teachings, followed him there, and the sea side was the only place spacious enough where such a gathering could take place.
On the other hand, Jesus never stopped calling men to work with Him: here He called Levi, who would become Matthew, the evangelist, later. Levi has been counted among sinners because of his work. But "I did not come to call the righteous," said Christ, "but the sinners" to be converted. Conversion to Christ is one of the most important things because from the beginning of his ministry, it is to this conversion that He called men. There is something good in us that the Lord needs, and when we are ready to answer his call, he does not judge us according to our sins, but by the goodness that is in us so that we can cooperate with him. . So let us not dwell on our sins, because that could be an obstacle to answering his call, because what Jesus needs is us, as we are, but ready to be converted.
When it comes to repentance and conversion, there are many examples that we can find in the Bible, especially in the gospel. Matthew and many others whom Jesus converted are mentioned here. Let us really allow ourselves to be transformed, when we are determined to turn off the wrong path, so as not to fall back into a state of non-grace. Jesus comes to sinners because they are the ones who need healing. As we said before, sin is a disease that must be cured. Also, we need to consult those who can heal us from diseases of our soul when we are in a state of sin. Do not play with diseases, do not wallow in sin, consult those who have the authority to absolve us of them.
