Saturday, January 9, 2021 - Saturday after Epiphany - The people who lived in darkness saw a great light. On those who dwelt in the land and the shadow of death a light has risen - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to St. John 3, 22-30

The disciples of John put the baptism of John, their master, and the baptism of Jesus in competition with each other. But John immediately corrected them: all work that one does comes from God and that Jesus is the Messiah. So there is no competition because the objective is the same: the salvation of souls.

John is the forerunner of Jesus, and the latter followed what he began by baptising with water, to purify the heart in order to open it to conversion. Jesus' message to his disciples was to baptise the world in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is why we are sons of God and sons of the Church.

At present, there may be a form of competition in the Church that is detrimental to communion. Today's Gospel calls us to stop thinking this way so that we can learn to receive God together and work together in the service of the Church for the expansion of the kingdom of heaven.

We are therefore all disciples of Christ, and we must all work for Him to save souls.
