Today, we turn in particular to St. Joseph. Joseph was the fiancé of Mary, the future Mother of the Saviour. Indeed, as soon as Joseph learned that his fiancée, Mary, was pregnant, he would discreetly repudiate her. It is natural, any man, noticing that his wife is pregnant, when he has nothing to do with it, would act the same way.

Fortunately, it is God's destiny that governs our lives because "your thoughts are not mine", He said. So, as soon as the angel gave explanations, Joseph was enlightened by the Holy Spirit and revealed his wisdom:

  • Joseph was a wise man because his faith was deep. Joseph is, in fact, our father in faith, just like Abraham. He knew how to listen to what the Lord had to say. Joseph is an example that we should follow by having a simple faith, capable of receiving and hearing the Word of God ;
  • Joseph was a wise man because he was a simple man. He did not have the slightest hesitation when he was convinced by the words of the angel of God. By Joseph's ability to work silently that God has accomplished on earth most of the history of our salvation ;
  • Joseph was a wise man because he was obedient. He acted according to the angel's words, he married Mary. Humbly and silently, Joseph fulfilled his role;
  • Joseph was a wise man because he was a holy man. He bent to God's will so that salvation might be accomplished. He gave himself entirely for the good of others. He was a good man in soul, he did his best to be a father worthy of Jesus Son of God.

And you too, Saint Joseph, glorious patriarch, bless us with your powerful protection, and place our prayers in the hands of Mary, so that she may present them to Jesus Christ. Amen!

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
