Wednesday 02 December 2020 - First week of Advent - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 15, 29-37 - He will come, the Lord, to save his people. Blessed are those who are ready to go out to meet him!
Many people are following Jesus, a hungry and thirsty people, especially for the salvation they so longed for. Jesus is saddened by this: it is the expression of God's beating heart, compassionate, not knowing how to be insensitive to man's suffering, but constantly coming to his aid. But for God to be able to save us, we must first of all be thirsty, be greedy, because faith cannot be imposed, it is given freely. The first sign of the coming of the Messiah and the defeat of evil.
Jesus multiplies the bread because he feels the hunger that gripped the people who followed him. A bread taken from the people, presented to Jesus so that He could multiply it, because we must participate in our salvation and not wait as idle beggars. Everyone ate and was satiated, and there were leftovers, a sign of the greatness of God's love, of the abundance of his gifts, inexhaustible enough to satisfy them. The first fruits of the heavenly banquet.
