Saturday, November 14, 2020 - 32nd week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 18, 1-8 - Through the proclamation of the Gospel, God calls you to share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dear Christians! Yesterday we were told that we must be prepared and vigilant for the end. This end is represented by fire, water, and many other calamities, which often cause us anxiety, worry or pain. So Jesus gives us today what we must face this anguish. Jesus does not stop at the warning, but provides the solution. It is about praying, praying constantly and not giving up praying, asking for God's mercy. This is what he emphasised in this parable. God is merciful, but He is waiting for us to take the step towards Him. It is the one who implores insistently who wins it: this is what Jesus means by the kingdom of heaven is won by force.
When is the Day of Judgement coming, when is it near or far away? (Rev 6, 10). These are the questions we constantly ask ourselves. And not only that: is it my time or the time of those who will succeed me, for generations continue to grow and follow? Can I still keep my faith, in the face of the many theories that appear and the many events? Am I faithful to the doctrine in which I have established myself since my baptism? And even Jesus asked: "When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" This is a question that faces us all and requires effort on our part.
Prayer is therefore one of the most effective ways to keep our faith alive. Prayer is the means to improve our relationship with God because He will do us justice if we persist in asking for His grace and mercy. Prayer is the time to meet Him, to expose our whole life to Him so that He may care for us with love. The unjust judge has finally done justice, but if it was against his heart. What is more, so will our Father, who is the Master of truth and the King of love, who looks and listens to us with impartiality. Therefore, let us take courage and pray patiently with perseverance.
