Monday 02 November 2020 - Commemoration of all the faithful departed - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14, 1-6 - Come, the blessed of my Father, receive as your inheritance the Kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world.
The Church today commemorates the deceased faithful. It is our duty as believers to pray for their souls.
Thus, in this Gospel, Christ sends a farewell message to his disciples, prompting Thomas to ask: "We do not know where you are going, Lord? Then how can we know the way?" Christ did not answer directly, but revealed himself: "I am the way, the truth and the life". But the disciples did not understand this statement, just as we Christians do. We often do not live the truth on the path to true life. Jesus' commitment and his death on the cross determine the right path to true life so that we can have the place prepared for us.
So believing in Jesus also means believing in his death and resurrection. Believe that there is another life after this life. Believe that He is waiting for us and welcoming us into real life. So, let death not disturb us or frighten us, on the contrary let it rejoice us because it is God himself waiting for us. Let us begin now on the way to eternal life, which is none other than Christ. He taught us to love each other and that is the only way. May the souls of dead Christians rest in peace in the mercy of God. Amen
