Friday 02 October 2020 - Guardian Angels - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 18, 1-5.10 - All the angels of the Lord, bless the Lord: to him be glory and everlasting praise!
Dear Christians, every 2nd October the Church remembers the Guardian Angels. If the mission of the angels is to be remembered, it is to praise the eternal glory of God, to bring us God's message so that we may know his will and to protect us from the snares of evil.
The character of the child is what Christ reveals in the Gospel we have just heard. Children are perfect, innocent, worthy. They do not pretend to be wise and skilful, but simple, humble and confident. This is not far from the nature of angels, and it is precisely the virtue that God approves. This is the worthy quality of the kingdom of God. Jesus said, "Beware of despising one of these little ones,
for I tell you, their angels in heaven continually see the face of my Father who is in heaven". What Jesus meant was that these little ones are in the heart of God. They are precious to him. Therefore, we can be sure that God has given us the Guardian Angels as a sign of his care for us, and we can be sure that if we trust in God, he will save us and we will one day rejoice with the angels in heaven. Amen.
