Wednesday, September 16, 2020 - 24th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 7, 31-35 - Your words, Lord, are spirit and they are life; you have the words of eternal life.
We feel the judgment, in what Christ says, with regard to the Pharisees and scribes, for on the one hand they ignored God's plan and did not obey John's baptism, and even more seriously, on the other hand, they refused to believe in Christ. Christ had done all he could to convert them, but they did not care. John the Baptist preached the baptism of repentance, but ended up in prison. As a result of all this, Jesus said that he felt sorry for them: "We played the flute... we sang lamentations... ".
It is the same for us who hear and are preached the Good News, but we remain indifferent, to the point that some even cultivate hatred and persecution. Please, let us receive and apply Christ's teaching in your lives. Saints Cornelius, Pope, and Cyprian, Bishop, whom the Church celebrates today, are models for us in obedience and witness, so that we may glorify God in your lives as Christians.
