Monday, September 14, 2020 - The Glorious Cross - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to St. John 3, 13-17 - We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you: by your Cross you have redeemed the world.
According to the Gospel of Saint John that we have just heard, the Church today celebrates the Glorious Cross, the Cross of salvation for all through Christ who gave himself there. Christ's death on the cross is an expression of God's ultimate love for the world: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not be lost but should obtain eternal life. Everything comes from God's will, it proves that God is Love, and the Cross of Christ is the symbol of this. God's only desire, his personal goal, is to save the world. Christ lifted up on the cross is the fulfillment of salvation, the manifestation of his love in the eyes of the world. Considered in Christ's kingship, his cross is his throne: a reign of love, a reign of salvation, a reign of service, a reign of humility.
Every day we sign ourselves, whether it is a ritual or a habit, but do it with reverence, with love and with a contrite heart to glorify the exalted Christ so that we may have salvation and resurrection.
