Friday, December 20, 2019- third week of Advent.
Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 1, 26-38.
the message announced by the angel and the saving mission of Jesus reveal the loving purpose that God prepares for humans.
Salvation is no longer obtained through holocausts and offerings in the temple or by priests, but through Christ who took flesh from the Virgin Mary, the new covenant that God made with his people.
It is this Jesus son of David, who will rebuild his kingdom and will save his people.
Saint Luke insists on the role of the Virgin Mary. A virgin who accepts to bear it and to give birth to the son of God through the action of the Holy Spirit and who give to the world his savior. she who shows that we must offer ourselves totally for the accomplishment of God's will, unique way to acquire salvation.
In this time that we have to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ, let us give ourselves totally to God's plan and offer ourselves to it so that the Holy Spirit may work in us and welcome the Child God who will come into our hearts. Let us also offer Him our desires and hopes, that Mary may lead them to the Saviour, for it is through her that this God's will has been fulfilled and that God's covenant with mankind has been fully completed.
Oh Jesus, you who took flesh to the virgin Mary, give us a hand because we wait impatiently your coming, change everything to be worthy of welcoming you into our hearts so that we journey towards a new life that already precedes the salvation you have prepared for us.
