Thursday, July 09, 2020 - 14th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 10, 7-15 - The reign of God is at hand. Convert and believe in the Gospel.
Christian brothers and sisters! The apostles are sent on mission by Jesus. The modalities of the mission are also raised here. Yesterday there was talk of exorcising, of healing the sick... this is reiterated today, but specifically Jesus insists on "proclaiming that the kingdom of Heaven is at hand". These same things that Jesus entrusted to the apostles, and which are also entrusted to us today, He did first. Jesus not only speaks, but He also acts. He has already done everything He imposes on us: healing all kinds of diseases, raising the dead, cleansing lepers and all kinds of defilements, casting out demons and forgiving sins. All this is still part of our times, hence the need for us to relieve the world, the image of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God that we preach must give people freedom, peace, joy, to comfort them in their sufferings. This is the word of Jesus to the apostles and to us: "You have freely received : give freely". Grace is given to us freely, we should also share it freely.
How to accomplish this is the following message, in short, we must avoid any attachment that would hinder the accomplishment of the mission. Therefore, so that we can accomplish our mission, let us remember that Jesus will not leave us alone or orphans. This is His word and the promise He made before going to the Father. He said that the workers deserve his food. He is always aware of the hunger of those who carry out their mission. He often tells us not to worry about tomorrow, so we should not worry about the fact that if we really trust him and trust the Holy Spirit who leads and accompanies us, nothing is impossible to fulfill the mission. So let us take courage, because we are all sent by the baptism we have received, and let us leave it to Jesus to help us in the fulfilment of our mission, even in the worst situations we believe to be hopeless.
