Saturday, June 20, 2020 - Eleventh week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6, 24-34 - Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
Yesterday we celebrated the solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, but today we celebrate the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Both speak from the heart. The heart is for loving. Man has only one heart, therefore can love only one and not two. This is the main reason for the incompatibility of polygamy or polyandry. It is also with the heart that one serves, hence the impossibility of serving two masters, as Jesus says here, God and money. The true servant loves. The danger is to equate God with money. We could say, "We don't serve the money." Yet that is what we do, thinking only of money, seeking only to make more and more profit and thus obscuring God. We no longer devote time to prayer, but prefer to take care of our material needs rather than going to church where instead of earning money, we are charged multiple financial burdens. Let us not forget that everything comes to us from God, even what we claim to have gained. Time is God's, let us give Him time so that He can give us more and profusion. Let's give Him the highest consideration and priority over everything, only then will we take care of our business.
We worry too much about life, says Jesus: about what to eat or what to drink ... No one is saying that these needs should be ignored, but they are not the only priority. We humans are God's creatures, as are birds, animals and plants, and God is concerned about them, all the more so: He loves us, He has made us His children, He will never leave us. The only time He can do nothing for us is when out of vanity and pride we persist in ignoring Him and not wanting Him. Losing faith, we often commit a real parricide by denying the God to whom we owe everything and then wandering around aimlessly, without landmarks or lairs. The words of Jesus are clear: "Don't worry so much; don't say, 'What are we going to eat?' or, 'What are we going to drink?' or, 'What are we going to wear?'" All this, the heathens are looking for him. But your heavenly Father knows you need it. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Don't worry about tomorrow: tomorrow will worry about itself; every day is enough." Nor is it a pretext for laziness and begging, but everything we do, let it be an expression of the kingdom of God and its truth. Our Blessed Mother, Mary will help us, for her immaculate heart knows well the concerns of her children and will never leave us alone! Amen.
