Sunday, June 07, 2020 - Holy Trinity - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 3, 16-18 - Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: to the God who is, who was and who is to come!
God is a family that lives by perfect love, this is the theme that the Church proposes to us on this Holy Trinity Sunday. When we speak of the Holy Trinity, two things easily come to mind: the first is the sign of the Cross, which we practice directly and by word and deed. The second is the prayer of glorification of the Triune God: "Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit".
Christian brothers and sisters, the word Trinity is a unique word that refers to the mystery of God. In other words, about the reality God who is beyond our understanding, and whose existence cannot be scientifically proven. As proof, St. Augustine, a great scholar and Doctor of the Church, tried for a long time to penetrate the mystery of the Holy Trinity, but in the end he gave up, saying: "We humans are finite and will never understand God who is Infinite". Moreover, the link between the Holy Trinity and us is a treasure of unshakeable faith. First of all, there is the relationship in his very being, that is, the Father is not the Son and the Son is not the Holy Spirit. But above all, communion only reinforces the fact that the presence of the Father is also the presence of the Son and that of the Holy Spirit. The baptism of Jesus in the Jordan is the most obvious illustration of this, the dove which is the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, the heavenly voice announcing the presence of God and Jesus himself, the baptized is none other than the Son.
To conclude, let us pray in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and let us sign the Cross at the same time, for nothing is better than a united family, nothing is as perfect as the communion of love of the Holy Trinity. This alone goes against human nature which is destined for communion, and God created us to live together on earth in the Holy Trinity. Today too, let us have a special thought for mothers, that they may be like Mary, and that God may clothe them with the grace of motherhood. Amen.
