Dear Christians, this is the continuation of the passage in which Saint Peter makes his profession of faith. Peter, the one who dared to say: "You know that I love you" to Christ. The beloved disciple of Jesus is none other than John, the evangelist. Peter must have thought that it was to Jesus' most beloved disciple that the responsibility that Jesus had entrusted to him should fall. However, Jesus' words encourage us to understand that God's call is different from person to person. Well, look at John, the Apostle who lived the longest and who was able to see the extension of God's work of salvation in the nascent Church. The last book of the Bible, the book of Revelation of St. John the Apostle is proof of this.

We too must prepare ourselves for God's call and respond to it. May Pentecost not be a feast like any other feast, but a renewal, through the Holy Spirit, of our commitment as disciples of Christ. Thus, as bold and zealous as John, we will witness to Christ by using all our talents and potential to preach the Gospel. Amen.
