In this prayer, when Jesus says: "Father, glorify your Son", He is not seeking the vain and ephemeral glory of this world, but the revelation of His divinity. Revelation that was fulfilled on the cross. Let us remember that Roman centurion at the foot of the cross: "Truly, this was the Son of God!" (Mt 27, 54b).

Moreover, Christ submitting to death but risen again is the indelible symbol of the salvation that God accomplished for us through his Son. This prayer of Jesus also expresses the perfect communion between Him and the Father. It is to this communion of life that Jesus invites us to participate. Eternal life is therefore to know the Father and his Son.

But it is a mystery so profound that the dull and finite understanding of man cannot grasp it: it is there that the Holy Spirit intervenes. This Spirit who, through Baptism, has made us sons of God and brothers of Christ. It is this Spirit who, from today on earth, leads us to the truth of the eternal.
