Tuesday, April 28, 2020 - Third week of Easter Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to St. John 6, 30-35 - I am the bread of life, says the Lord, whoever comes to me will never go hungry.
The teaching on true bread. But the crowd did not want to believe yet and asked for signs, other than the multiplication of the bread. It was God who sent the manna to the Hebrews in the desert and not Moses and that the true bread, the bread of life is Jesus Himself, the One we believe in the Eucharist.
Many times we Christians succumb to the same temptation as this crowd before Jesus: not to believe without a sign. Our prayer is more concerned with material things, while Jesus gives us much more than what we ask for. This is what He accomplishes: the crowd asked for bread, while He gave the bread that came from heaven, He gave Himself.
