Sunday, March 15, 2020 — Third Sunday of Lent — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 4, 5-42 —You are really the saviour of the World, Lord! Give-me the Living water: I may never get thirsty.

The Gospel shows us that the well can be the ideal place to pass on a message and the Malagasy proverb confirms this: "A secret entrusted to the water seekers will be known by the whole village". It is at Jacob's well that this Samaritan woman received the Good News from Jesus. It is from there that she left to announce this Good News to her whole village so that the inhabitants converted and believed in Jesus.

Man thirsts for salvation, like that Samaritan woman who no longer wanted to go back and forth to the well to draw water. Jesus is the Living Spring overflowing with happiness and peace. He wants us to thirst for this happiness and peace. What are we going to do about it?

This Lent, we are called to true conversion, that is, to renounce our bad habits: a period of deprivation, a period of sharing for the good of others, as the Samaritan woman of the Gospel did. But first of all we need to convert first, we need to be convinced that Jesus is the true life, always ready to give us his life. Jesus is the source from whom we draw all good and who assures us of eternal life. Amen

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth

At the end of its second General Assembly, held from 15 to 18 October 2024, the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace sent a message to government officials at all levels, as well as to all Malagasy and all people of goodwill.
