Tuesday, March 03, 2020 — First week of Lent — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 6, 7-15 — Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God
Dear Christian! Let's always look to the end. God never stops looking for us. He does not want or allow any of us to be lost, His desire is that we all be close to Him in His glory. To prepare us for this life with God Jesus came among us and showed us the true way to know the Father. Prayer is one of the ways to do this and He teaches us how to do it: "When you pray, don't stumble like the pagans: they think that with many words they will be answered. He's asking us to pray from the heart and to pray with humility.
Let's not forget that God knows everything we need without us even asking Here Jesus teaches us the kind of prayer we should address to God: the "Our Father," a prayer that is so familiar to us that sometimes we forget its significance. Do we really know and are we convinced when we recite this prayer that God is our Father and He knows even the least our needs?
Believing and praying is good! But it is better to act accordingly because faith without action is futile. As believers, we are asked to love our neighbours, that is, to come to the aid of those in distress and above all to forgive. Jesus insists particularly in his teaching on forgiveness. Our faith becomes flawed if we do not follow God's example of love and forgiveness. Let us learn to sincerely forgive those who have offended us. To love and forgive only strengthens our bond with God our Father. Our prayer should be an intimate relationship with God regardless of what others may think.
