December 15, 2019 - 3rd Sunday of the Advent
Holy Gospel by Saint Matthew 11, 2-11.
Christmas, a great time for the world, is approaching, for God through His Son intervenes in our human history, bringing redemption and new life to bring His Kingdom into our hearts. individually and in our human lives.

The Messiah's coming is to build this Kingdom of God: to keep us from evil for what is called "Salvation."

Not only does John the Baptist want to know who the Messiah is to come, he sends his disciples to Christ, asking, "Are you the coming one?" but he also wants to make known and show that God is in our midst, living with us through his Son. But it is His Son who will release from the hearts of men the sicknesses of the world, that the Kingdom of God will come into the world, and lead them into a new life in God:

  • spiritual blindness in which man cannot see God's love;
  • disabilities caused by sin to cause them to disobey God, to reign in love and truth;
  • to open the ears to listen to God and to the cry of the poor who call for help and the death of conscience to do what is good and right in God's sight.

The Messiah would come to us individually, we would need a healer. But in order for this Messiah's work and mission to be fulfilled and accomplished in the individual, we need to imitate John the Baptist: overcome fear and failure to trust in God's power in Christ.

Rather than being a follower, like a reed waved by the wind, it will stand firm in the faith and will not compete with any pretense or appearance but will clothe itself with simplicity and humility. But that is how great it is to be born of a woman to John the Baptist before God.
