Wednesday, February 12, 2020 — Fith week of Ordinary time — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 7, 14-23 — Your word, Lord, is the truth, and this truth, sanctify us.
First, Contrary to the episode where the Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus, here it is Jesus who calls people to Him. Until now He continues to call us, but we always find excuses for not answering His call. Or sometimes if we dare to come it is especially to make us listen or to make us see. Coming to meet Jesus is first of all because we want to listen to him.
Then, Jesus is formal "Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile." To comply with the prohibitions, especially food, is to fall behind in the Old Testament. Jesus has already come, He has perfected everything. Instead, let's pay attention to what comes out of our interior, the ungodly ideas from which arise: misconduct, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, fraud, debauchery, envy, slander, pride and excess. Let us examine our conscience, to which of its thoughts do we most often succumb?
