Wednesday, December 18, 2019 - Third Week of the Advent.
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 1, 18-24.
Today is the eighth day before Christmas celebration, led by the Gospel to reflect on the character of Saint Joseph, the Father entrusted to His children.
The silence of Saint Joseph indicates that he is working to fulfill the divine promise of the prophet Isaiah (7, 14): "The Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall and his name will be called Emmanuel, that is, God is with us. "
Saint Joseph, because he was a righteous man before God, His Word, and before His people, God chose him to be the Father of His Son. And he did as the angel commanded him. He did not place himself as an obstacle to God's plan and work, with regard to His Son, who was born in the womb of the Virgin Mary, by the power of the Holy Ghost, but accepted the role of Father or in the presence of God. The law before Mary was conceived by the Holy Spirit or by naming the Child. He agrees to be invisible and silent so that God's purpose on the incarnation of His son is manifested and fulfilled. For this Son of man was the Savior of the world, to deliver man from evil, and to give him life, which is life in the Holy Trinity.
Remember, then, that God has a plan in place for us and through us especially. So try to be like Saint Joseph to stand up for what is right and blameless, and to obey what God leads us to show our communion with God.
