Thursday, January 30, 2020 — Third week of Ordinary time — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 4, 21-25 — Your word is a lamp to my feet and the light to my path.
The teaching of Jesus continues, the one who receives the Word, the seed sown in his heart, cannot keep it but has to make it fruitful, i-e, to share it with the others. Here the disciples who have received the light were assimilated the light which illuminates.
The disciple is like the candelabrum on which the light is placed to illuminate and warm his surroundings. Faith is like this light, to be lived by the one who has received it in order to illuminate the hearts of men. We receive the same grace of faith, but it is up to each one to live it with dignity and righteousness.
The measure we use will be the one used for us: it is to tell us that we receive in proportion to what we have given. He who behaves in the true light will receive more, but for the pretender there is nothing hidden that will not be made manifest; the little he possesses will be taken away from him. Therefore, let us live and share our faith so that it may grow in the faith of others.
