Friday, March 18, 2022 — Second week of Lent — God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that those who believe in him may have eternal life — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 21, 33-43. 45-46

The parable of the murderous tenants shows us how much God loves his people. His love is expressed by two significant gestures: planting fruitful vines and sending his messengers to gather the fruits.

God has made us his people among the nations and he has entrusted this people to a group of workers to be well protected from fierce enemies, to be cared for and finally to bear fruit. He made a contract with these workers, a pact, like the Covenant concluded at Sinai in which he wants his people to bear fruit, that is to say, he wants his people to bear fruit in love towards him and in justice for the oppressed. God closely follows the evolution of his people from their beginning to their maturation.

The group of winegrowers did not respect the contract, they want to act like the owner. God still manifests his love by seeking by all means to recover his people: first, he sent his prophets to enlighten the meaning of the promise and to perfect the morality of his people, unfortunately these efforts are doomed to failure . He then sent his Son, but he too received the same fate as the prophets. Even though he has been rejected, he is exalted and glorified by the Father.

We are therefore invited to be faithful to God's choice by bearing fruit through love for God and for neighbors and by adhering to the stone that God has placed as the foundation of the Church.

The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth
