His Holiness Pope Francis appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Tsiroanomandidy Reverend Father Gabriel Randrianantenaina, from the clergy of the Diocese of Moramanga and currently Coordinating Secretary of the Conference of Bishops of Madagascar.

Reverend Father Gabriel Randrianantenaina was born in Tanambe, diocese of Ambatondrazaka, on February 26, 1969 (52 years old). After completing his primary and secondary studies, he entered the Petit Séminaire d'Ambatondrazaka in 1954. In 1989, he was admitted to the Diocesan Propaedeutic Seminary; in 1990 at the "Saint Paul Apôtre" Philosophical Seminary in Antsirabe and in 1994 at the "Saint Pierre" Major Seminary in Antananarivo.

He received Priestly Ordination on May 31, 1997 (24 years of Priesthood). From 1997 to 1998, he obtained a License in Theology at the Catholic Institute of Madagascar and from 2000 to 2002, in Rome, a License in Philosophy at the Pontifical University Urbaniana as well as a License in Canonical Administrative Practice of the Congregation for the Clergy.

The candidate has held the following pastoral responsibilities:

  • from 1998 to 2000, parish priest of "San Tammaro" in Anosindrafilo, diocese of Ambatondrazaka and diocesan chaplain for young Catholics;
  • from 2003 to 2010, Responsible for the Missionary District of Anosibe An'Ala of the Diocese of Moramanga and Diocesan Delegate for vocations ministry;
  • in 2006, with the erection of the new diocese of Moramanga, he chose to be incardinated in this new ecclesiastical circumscription;
  • from 2010 to 2015, Rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary "Saint Jean-Marie Vianney" of Moramanga;
  • from 2015 to 2016, District Manager of Anosibe An'Ala of the Diocese of Moramanga and Diocesan Delegate for Ecumenism;
  • since 2016, Coordinating Secretary of the Conference of Bishops of Madagascar and also since 2012, National Coordinator of the Priests of Saint Francis de Sales Association.

At the end of its second General Assembly, held from 15 to 18 October 2024, the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace sent a message to government officials at all levels, as well as to all Malagasy and all people of goodwill.
