The "MDB" or the MALGASY DAIRY BOARD appealed, demanding that the new land law, recently passed by the deputies, not be approved by the Supreme Constitutional Court and the President of the Republic on June 30. The MDB is a group of actors in the milk sector in Madagascar.
Farmers are concerned about the potential for loss of land rights as a result of this law. The MDB expresses all its solidarity and supports the appeals launched by many peasant associations in Madagascar in this situation, declared Mr. Rakotozafy Théophile, Board of Directors of the MDB.
The peasant association is ready to negotiate and participate in the development of the country. The dairy industry is one of the areas affected by this law. According to Mr. Raveloarijaonina or Ravelo, cow breeder of Vakinankaratra, one of the members of the board of directors, the actors who make the development of the land have their own characteristics.
The executive and legislative powers did not listen to the farmers in the development and revision of this law. It is not too late for the grievances of farmers' associations, said Rakotozafy Théophile, MDB board member.
The MDB board of directors of island-wide met for two days in the capital, July 15-16, 2021, to take stock of the life of the organization in general, the ongoing work in the dairy sector and on property law and have now issued a joint statement.
