The 35th anniversary of the founding of the AKAMASOA Center, headed by Father Pedro Opeka, was officially celebrated on Sunday, October 20. This is a village where human development is realized in spiritual, mental and physical aspects. 35 years of inspiring people to fight poverty, to have a better life...

35 years of success, he has also experienced many hardships, but that seems nothing when the love of all as brothers and sisters has motivated him to act accordingly.

A place full of garbage and eucalyptus forest was cleared by Father Pedro and his colleagues in Andralanitra in 1989. Today, there are numerous infrastructures on site. 40,000 people are cared for by the AKAMASOA Center, including some 5,000 households.

Father Pedro said that many efforts had to be made to reach the AKAMASOA Center's current location. It was a joint effort. Father Pedro never tires of recalling the cause of poverty to show everyone how not to return to it. Father Pedro declared that poverty is not inevitable and urged vulnerable people to avoid it.
