This second phase focuses more on tree planting. Over 1,000 hectares of land are to be covered by forest, of which over 700 hectares make up the first part and over 400 hectares the second part. Native trees will be planted, and over 2,000,000 saplings will be produced by FAFIALA and the surrounding communities to carry out the work.
The planting of these trees is being carried out in collaboration with the people living around the Ankeniheny Zahamena forest, as explained by project manager and FAFIALA executive director Raveloarijaona Nonah, which makes the project special:
