There are many research results that can be used to progress after the establishment of the research and higher education field in cooperation with "DPFB" forest and biodiversity partnership device. The DPFB is a joint platform of FOFIFA, the University of Antananarivo and CIRAD which combines their research and training strengths on the theme of the conservation and enhancement of natural resources in Madagascar, founded 20 years ago. .
The "Tsiperifery" is one of the search results. Tsiperifery, or wild pepper, is an aromatic plant found only in Madagascar. It is threatened with extinction due to the way it is harvested, which has led researchers in research and higher education to work with DPFB to find ways to make it sustainable. It is now possible to plant it in a new artificial environment, but not necessarily in the forest, explains Professor Andrianoelisoa Hanitra, director of the research department on forests and the management of natural resources at FOFIFA.
The challenge is to solve two major problems facing Madagascar: Its forests contain many species of nature found only in Madagascar. This treasure is in danger today and must be protected for the benefit of future generations. Secondly, the Malagasy people must get out of the poverty in which they find themselves and it is possible to help them by developing their natural resources.
