An abdominal hernia is a protrusion of an organ through a cavity from which it should not protrude, or for a long time without it, and which is felt from the outside. The hernia forms a swelling of varying size on the wall of the abdomen, in the inguinal region; it may be barely visible or protrude only at certain times.
