August 16, 2023 — Wednesday, Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time — Odd Year — God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, And entreating to us the message of reconciliation — Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew (Mt 18: 15-20)
Jewish women had no work outside the home, i.e. caring for the home and family. Women have an important role, especially in salvation history; God the Father worked with the Holy Mary as the incarnation of God. The duties of men and women cannot be confused. Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh and the flesh made bread; he is the seed sown, the seed received in the Eucharist. The baptised Christian is the place where this Eucharist is sown, where faith and hope live on. We can say that the faithful are fertile ground, especially if they actively receive communion and the sacrament of confession. Piety, charity and friendship are the reservoirs of water used to irrigate the faith so that it can grow.
