Those who pray never leave the world behind. If prayer does not take in the joys and sorrows, the hopes and anxieties of humanity, it becomes a ‘decorative’ activity, a superficial, theatrical attitude, an intimist attitude. We all need interiority: to withdraw into a space and a time devoted to our relationship with God; but this does not mean running away from reality. 24th Sunday of the Year: Suffering has value; I will call you friends, says the Lord; for I have told you all that I have heard from my Father. The nature of the servants of God will be shown in the first reading, which is written in the book of Isaiah the prophet: this reading is one of the songs of the servants of God. The servant of God is a model and exemplary person. The way in which Jesus showed himself to be Christ is by offering himself, the mystery of Easter: suffering, death, resurrection...
