The Easter Triduum begins on Thursday. Maundy Thursday marks the beginning of these events: the creation of the sacrament of the Eucharist, the commemoration of the washing of the feet of the Apostles, the consecration of the holy oil, and especially the renewal of the promise made by the priest to the bishop. There was a council that specifically discussed the creed, especially the phrases that make up the creed: suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried, descended into the earth; rose on the third day.
What is celebrated on Easter Day is a continuation of the holy story after the resurrection of Jesus. The appearance to his disciples is the climax of the Holy Reading of this Easter. Peter was the first witness and preached the Good News according to what is written in the Acts of the Apostles, and this is why the Church is apostolic. On Holy Saturday there is a special celebration, a celebration of Jesus who conquered death and rose from the dead. There are three aspects to the celebration: Firstly, Christ the Light shown through the New Fire and the Easter Fires/Candles; secondly, Christ the Word of God through the Holy Reading; and lastly, Christ the Source of Life symbolising Baptism.
