It's not one person discussing, but two or more people, so it's an idea that has been analyzed by many people, and it creates unity. When a decision has been made by different groups of people, it results in a common approval. An advantage that can be gained from this is that everyone is active in carrying out the decision. The vocation of God that is addressed to us at Easter time is what is said in Saint Mark: "... go into the world, preach the Gospel to every creature...". God's vocation is important to be a priest or a religious or to be a lay person in consecration, or to get married.
The meaning of dialogue comes from the Greek words "dialogue", "dia" and "logos", i.e. "dia" does not mean two but a crossing, the "logos" which means words comes from 'crossing oneself or through conversation. The discussion is not a "negotiation" but an opportunity to express what is persuasive for oneself, with respect for others.
