Monday 30th November 2020 - Saint Andrew, Apostle - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 4, 18-22 - Come after me, says the Lord. I will make you fishers of men.

Dear Christians, every 30 November the Church celebrates the Apostle Saint Andrew. We emphasise in the creed that the Church is apostolic, because they are the witnesses who lived with Jesus Christ, who received his teachings and who are the foundation on which the Church is built. There are even experiences that are not written in the Bible, but inherited from the Apostles: tradition.

The first apostles were called while they were fishing; this means that it is at the heart of daily life that we encounter God. It is this activity that we must elevate to God. Jewish doctors called their disciples to learn the law, but the disciples of Jesus are called to learn Jesus Christ Himself, to live His life. They immediately followed Jesus as soon as they heard his call: "come after me", leaving their nets and their father. Abandonment is one of the great conditions for following Jesus, abandoning what is dear, abandoning life itself. Therefore, let us first follow Jesus, so that He can send us to announce what we believe. The Christian life is both a call and a mission, both for the Church and for every Christian. Let us be faithful to this life.
