Thursday 08 October 2020 - 27th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 11, 5-13 - Lord, open our hearts to make us attentive to the words of your Son.

Dear Christians, the Gospel of Saint Luke chapter 11 has been read to us, teaching us: Ask, knock and seek the Lord, for he who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it will be opened. But when we look at the Gospel of Saint Matthew 6, 8, he tells us: "Your Father knows what you need, even before you have asked for it". The Gospel does not contradict itself, but it means that God knows what is best for us, He knows what to do. Here, He Himself says: "you who are evil, you know how to give good things to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!".

It is our cry that rises up to Him, our eyes turn to Him: this is what He needs. We must take the step: ask, knock, seek and never tire of it, because insisting is a sign of trust. God is not a "button" to be pressed, so that everything appears. This is the mentality of people in today's digital world. But God works in time. So be careful not to rush to seek a solution other than God, at the risk of ending up worshipping men or other false gods. Let us have faith in Him even when the battle is fierce.
