30 March - Born in Thonon in 1435, Amédée is the son of Ludovic, Duke of Savoy and grandson of the anti-pope Felix V. As soon as Amédée was born, his father predestined him to marry Yolande de Valois, the sister of Louis XII, to keep the alliance with France.

Amédée and Yolande were married in 1452 and formed a happy couple because they were united by a fervent faith and virtue. Generous, they had seven children. In 1464, Amédée succeeded his father, and it was from there that he became epileptic. A convinced pacifist, Amédée refused to take part in the war against Charles the Bold. His seizures became more and more frequent, and since he had no offspring of governing age, Amédée had to hand over this task to his wife. Dissatisfied with this decision, his brother rebelled and the King of France had to intervene. Amédée retired to Saint-Eusèbe de Vercili and died there on March 30, 1472. Shortly after his death, his subjects demanded his canonization.
