Tuesday 24th November 2020 - 34th week of Ordinary Time - Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 21, 5-11 - Be faithful unto death, says the Lord, and I will give you the crown of life.

The Temple of Jerusalem, in the time of Jesus, was one of the most beautiful human achievements, and it is said that you have not seen anything until you have seen this Temple. But Jesus said that the day will come when there will be no stone left standing on this site, no matter how solid it is. The achievements of our hands are not lasting, they are ephemeral. Only life in God can last. We must not therefore entrust our hearts to the work of our hands.

Those who questioned Jesus already wanted to know in advance, the end. But only God knows it; that is why if anyone says he knows it, he is a false prophet. Let's be careful with these statements, let's not allow charlatans to take God's place. What we must do while we wait for the end is what Jesus said: "Watch and pray, for you know neither the day nor the hour when the Son of Man will come". Therefore, the existence of various disasters, such as diseases or earthquakes, does not necessarily mean the coming of the end, as they seem to be commonplace in everyday life. It is repentance that must be lived in daily life in order to perfect the spiritual life and trust in God's mercy. God knows that our lives are fragile, so He has prepared us for eternal life. It is this happy life without torment that we must prepare on earth. A perfect life, unspeakable because it is far better than any human achievement. Amen!
