From the very beginning of the narration of this Gospel passage, we witness a horrifying scene: the Jews were going to stone Jesus and for good reason, according to yesterday's Gospel, they could not understand Jesus' words. Once again, in this passage, Jesus tries to teach them and convince them: "I have multiplied before your eyes the good works that come from the Father. For which of these works do you want to stone me", but still, they refused to believe and they even went to stone Him that He had to leave them to go and teach on the other side of the Jordan where people believed.

Dear Christians, indeed, it is easier to point fingers and condemn. When hatred prevails, one is quicker to denigrate, one no longer knows how to listen or see what is good in the other. Let us guard against hatred towards our neighbours and especially against hatred towards God when everything does not go according to our desires. When we do not receive Jesus in our hearts, in our family, in our church, we refuse to receive His grace that will be dispensed in profusion elsewhere.
