Today, through the imposition of ashes we begin the period of Lent which is a journey towards Easter, the victory with Christ.

On this day the Gospel reminds us of the Church's precepts for an authentic Lenten season: almsgiving, prayer and fasting. In this journey, it is essential that God be the only witness of our efforts, unlike the Pharisees and scribes who do everything possible to make them stand out. On this point, Jesus is very clear: "Whatever you do to become righteous, do not do it in front of men to get you noticed. Otherwise, there is no reward for you from your Father in heaven".

First, alms. The practice of almsgiving leads us to love our neighbour, especially the poor and destitute. It is an exercise that is practised by sharing with others what we love, what we need and not what we no longer need. Let us give alms with joy, without regret or reservation and without seeking to take advantage of it.

Secondly, the prayer, To pray it is to turn to God, it is going to meet Him. But during Lent We need to give a little more time than usual to this encounter with God, submitting to Him both our lives and the lives of others.

Finally, fasting, it is to deprive oneself materially and carnally to give more importance to the spiritual life in order to better connect with God.

During Lent, the church invite us to truly convert and atone for our sins.It is Jesus's desire that we spent our lent in joy and with love to participate fully in the glory of His resurrection at Easter.
